Szafert Sylwia (b. 1968)

Artist-painter. Between 1988 and 1996 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, at the Faculty of Conservation of Painting and Polychrome Sculpture. She perfected her artistic practice under the supervision of Teresa Pągowska at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, as well as in the Drawing Studio at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts of Dr H. Borys. 
After her diploma she worked in art conservation, thanks to which the techniques she mastered at that time, including gilding, glazing, and the interpenetration of layers, were later used in her creative painting work. For many years, Sylwia Szafert's paintings have been clearly shaped stylistically by, among other things, the learned workshop of the old masters. Her paintings are full of warm colours, and delicate glazing on layers of gold, copper and silver give her works an original charm of lustre and depth. 
The simplicity and syntheticity of the artist's compositions harmonise beautifully with the richness of textures and colours. Sylwia Szafert's works are in great demand, occupying an important place in many private collections at home and abroad.
